Books are items found throughout Equestria which can either be used to complete quests or for reading. It is possible to learn more about the world of Equestria through reading such texts, and they range from nursery rhymes to historical accounts.
While books obtained in quests are generally found across Equestria, those which can be read are limited to shops in Cantermore, the Crystal Library, and the Ponydale Library.
Some books may not have an accurate "sell price" in their description due to a glitch.

- Some books, such as Scribble's Novel cannot be opened, rather their description is considered part of the book.
- The longest book title is The Crystal Conference: A Guide to the Most Important Diplomatic Event of the Modern Age, which is 15 characters long.
- Some books can be found in bookshelves or on desks. Although these cannot be picked up, it is possible to read their titles, or even pages that were left open from them. Some of which include subtle references or Easter eggs.
