The original 36 items that were available in pre-alpha 1. Legends of Equestria now features around a hundred items.

Open Server Events were a key event during pre-alpha and alpha development in Legends of Equestria, allowing the public to experience periodic previews of the game.

In these events, development on the game would be paused, while the cloud-based development servers were repurposed to relay necessary data that allowed the game to run on temporary clients. Open Server Events were integral in helping the team stress-test their game infrastructure in a variety of real-life contexts, including a DDoS attack on February 2015 [1].

In December 2016, Legends of Equestria entered its Limited Access Release phase, where the servers stay online constantly. As such, there will no longer be Open Server Events carried out.

Combat

  • 16 new skills added (Transfusion, Resurrect, Triage, Party Foul, Change of Heart, Guidance, Friends Forever, Regenerative Aura, Field Tactician, Jeering Shout, Home Field Advantage, Candy Shower, Cute Stare, Sphere of Protection, Airstep, Rapier)
  • The Pony Avatar now appears in the skill bar
  • Skills now display cooldowns numerically
  • Players' health and energy now have numeric overlays
  • New fainting system, requiring player interaction to respawn
  • Loot can only be seen by the player it is for. If multiple players attack a monster, then all players will receive their own loot chest
  • Players can now see what they looted, and are informed of loot that party members have obtained
  • Inflexion sounds added for Mobs
  • Enemy Ponies have voiced dialogue
  • Combat music now plays in proximity to danger
  • Level up sound added
  • Tension system added
  • Monsters can now only see in front of them and hear trotting players close by.
  • Fainted mobs can no longer be targeted
  • Spells are more accurate
  • Flying now uses a small amount of energy
