They're On to My Lampshades is a quest given by Wooden Nickel in the The Frontier. He implies that he is in trouble. After trying to get more information, he explains that he sold highly flammable lamps. The player gets the quest to help him out

Quest initiation[]

The quest starts once Wooden Nickel asks the player to talk to Six Shooter for him. At this point, the player has the option to refuse to do so.

Journal: I refuse to help him, but Wooden Nickel assures me he changed.

If the player instead accepts to help him, or later comes back and changes their mind, the quest starts for real.

Journal: I met an old conpony named Wooden Nickel in the Applewood saloon. He's being pursued by a bounty hunter named Six Shooter due to uncollected debt, and asked that I pass along message that he's ready to pay up and come quietly. But he also subtly implied that he'll pay me if I can strongarm Six Shooter to abandon the hit. Decisions, decisions...

  • Talk to Six Shooter

Passing along the message[]

Then the player passes the message to Six Shooter, he says Wooden Nickel is owed to pay 700 bits. The player then has the option to be honest and give over Wooden Nickel's location for free, or attempt to haggle a fifty-fifty split of the payment. The player also has the option to attempt to intimidate him, insisting you'll take all the money; however, this does not work.

Journal: I passed along Wooden Nickel's message, and Six Shooter will be visiting him shortly to resolve this bounty peacefully. Now I just need to visit Nickel myself to get my cut.

  • Return to Wooden Nickel

Resolution[]

Honesty[]

If the player chooses the be honest and tell Six Shooter where Wooden Nickel is without payment, upon returning to Wooden Nickel, the player will actually be awarded with 350 bits, despite not asking for any payment. The player will also recieve 400 Combat XP.

Fifty-Fifty Split[]

If the player chooses to ask for a fifty-fifty split of the bounty, the player will instead receive the full 700 bits from Wooden Nickel upon returning to him, as well as 400 Combat XP.

Journal: Wooden Nickel paid his price and is now free.
